Morning Report

My personal trainer told me I need to start having move veggies to my meal plan, I've been making smoothies with the Kale from my Tower Garden.

Our Bell Peppers are getting closer.

Looking forward to having some water melon soon.

Today's lunch

Remember the Cesar salad I made for dinner last night?  It was so fresh and delicious I decided to take the leftovers for lunch. This is something I would not normally do but it was great.

Harvesting lettuce from the Tower Garden

Tonight we are going to have some Cesar Salad with our pizza. First I need to go and cut some lettuce.

This was not my best photo, but I'm hungry so this will have to do.

There, it looks better in the bowl. Ready for a quick wash and then make the salad.

Little prep work and here it is, the tomatoes and chicken did not stay on top like I planned. But it does look good to my cherry tomatoes that will soon be in one of my salads. This is one of our big bowls so my salad looks small. It will feed all five of us.

Wait till Melissa sees the bell peppers are starting to take shape. She loves those diced up and sauteed with some scrambled eggs.

While I was outside I picked some cilantro, it smelled so good and it is another one of Melissa's favorites.

Did I mention we have three cats too. Two of them came into to the kitchen to check out what was being made. They love the fresh chicken and lettuce. Since I escorted them out of the kitchen I thought I would include a photo. Hunter is on the left and Harry is on the right.

Below is a link on how to harvest lettuce from your Tower Garden. Check out the link and let me now if it works,

Today's blooms

The Zucchini in the Tower Garden is blooming.

The Traditional garden Zucchini is getting closer to blooming.

I also noticed the leaves in the traditional garden were lighter in color. Not sure why this is, does anyone know?

I came across a site that offered 5 ways to eat these blooms. I never thought about trying that as part of a meal. Has anyone else prepared these blooms?

Here is the link. Five Ways to Eat Squash Blooms

Doug's seedlings in his Tower Garden

My brothers seedling look like they are ready to be placed in his Tower Garden.

What my friends are growing

Here are a few photo's from Han's Tower Garden. He grew these plants from seeds using the starter kit that comes with the Tower Garden. He will soon be making salads with the lettuce and tomatoes right out of his back yard. Who said you need dirt to make things grow....

Above is the Gourmet lettuce.

This is the cherry tomatoes. The rack that surrounds the tower will provide great support as these tomatoes grow and start producing.

Look what's growing now

The lettuce from the Tower Garden is ready to be trimmed again. The lettuce in my traditional garden is getting bigger too.

The lettuces on the left is growing at pace than what is on the right. Oh yes, and I still have those pesky weeds and leaves to pull and clean up.

Above you can see that the Zucchini is also growing faster than the traditional method. Can't wait to add those to salads, skibobs, and vegetable dishes.

Dinner tonight.

Cherry tomatoes will be here soon.

Going to pick some lettuce tonight and make a salad

It's nice when you have a variety of lettuce in your own backyard.

I love using the Kale in my morning smoothies

Going to ask Melissa to make some Salsa with the cilantro.

I'll add some chives to the baked potatoes I picked up at the market on Del Mar.

The squash should be here soon too.

Here is what I clipped from the back yard, fresh as it can be. Melissa made a fantastic salad.

Picked up some kabobs at the market too. Love shopping local.

Got some stuffed potatoes too, three with bacon bits, two with broccoli.

Its going to be a great dinner tonight!

Garden Chores

Gardening choress this weekend:

Clean the leaves out of the garden, water, pull any weeds starting to grow, check and combat any bug problems.

Check water level, and enjoy the waterfall sounds made by the Tower Garden watering cycling.
